  A very warm traditional Maltese restaurant with great selection of fish and a great service. Not to be missed.

  Well what can I say about Ta Pawla?

We stumbled across Ta Pawla on our 2nd night of a 12 night holiday and could see it was a very busy place. We waited maybe 10 mins for a table and were given 1 outside tucked down the side on our own but instantly felt we'd get forgotten about down there. We waited around 10-15 mins then the wife found a table inside. (I'm so glad she did as I was getting ready to move on fearing we'd get forgotten about)
We were inside around 90 mins from getting there to leaving but I didn't seem to mind as I was on holiday and in no rush. The food was excellent and very good sized portions. All food is cooked fresh so will take longer but hey no rush your on holiday !
We left very happily fed and decided to return the following night which was again very busy but we managed to get a table OK inside. We had a lovely filling meal with starters and a bottle of wine (dolcino) with mains all for around €40 -45, bargain!
We were that happy we decided to ask if we could book a table for the following night and ended up with our table being booked under the name H2O (there's a reason behind it)
We ended up eating our way through the menu for 11 of our 12 nights in malta.
Michael the owner is a great guy and named the place after his mother - she would be very proud Michael as I told you. Michael will find time if he has it to come chat with you usually later in the night.
The rest of the staff are friendly but very busy so be patient.
Yes the place is very busy and it's easy to walk away when you haven't ordered after 20 mins of waiting with the menu but trust me it's worth it. We were regulars and still waited quite a while some nights but as we said ,we were on holiday and in no rush and knew we'd be happy when we left - as we always were. Trust me you'll be entertained by watching the staff rushing around to get orders out.
We loved this place and will make it our 1st port of call when we return to Malta
