Ta' Pawla is a warm and and cosy restaurant located in St Paul's Bay. It has been family run since it opened its doors over 20 years ago, specialising in Local and Mediterranean Cuisine.

Ta' Pawla is named after the mother of the founders, symbolising Mother Earth, the source of our natural ingredients.

I had the Maltese rabbit... read more which is the islands signature dish. Very lean and tasty with deep dark dipping gravy.

The wine list is also very good. 

I shall be back when visiting Bugibba again that's for sure!

We hadn't booked but still received a warm and... read more friendly welcome. We ordered mussels and fried calamari to start which were served with yummy Maltese crusty bread. The portions were generous, the mussels served with gorgeous toasted bread to dip in the juices and the calamari served with homemade tartar sauce and fresh, crisp salad, both dishes delicious. For mains my partner had the local rabbit speciality and I had pig cheeks, both served with herby roast potatos and vegetables, again everything was delicious, the sauce the pigs cheeks came in was so nice and not too rich. I would have loved to try a dessert but we were both too full, so I could only manage a coffee. We were given local nougat by the owner at the end of the meal. The staff were attentive and friendly throughout, but not overbearing. In total the meal came to around 70 Euro for 2 courses each, a bottle of local wine and a coffee, which I felt was amazing value for the quantity and quality of the food we had and I was more than happy to leave a tip for the excellent service. I didn't take any photos of the meal I'm afraid, as I was too busy enjoying it! Highly recommend if you want to try traditional Maltese food and culture.
